People who are living with PTSD, Anxiety or a past trauma will describe how feelings of fear, panic, nervousness, or uncertainty might blot their day. We consider anxiety as a learned behaviour or a learned anticipatory response to a perceived danger.
There is a part of your brain (amygdala) that is programmed from birth to keep you safe. It is always scanning for danger. It doesn’t judge or think. It doesn’t rationalise or develop strategies. It just reacts. I help you to re-condition the learned pattern of anxiety, so that you can be more resourceful and assured. In a nutshell, you will maintain a memory of events; the learning from events (ie I am now safe); but wouldn’t it be great to disconnect the emotional memory of those events. It will like watching an old black and white movie. You are now safe.
