28 Jul “I wasn’t hypnotised”
I had a client several years ago who at the age of 55 had decided it was time to quit his 40 year smoking habit. He was a lawyer by profession and told me that like all things he confronts … he wants to win. So therefore he was now in battle against the ‘packet of cigarettes a day’ habit. Suffice to say he cut down to a couple of cigarettes a day after the first session. At the end of the third session he had been a non smoker for over a week. He stood up at the end of the session, put himself in court room adversary mode, and told me quite defiantly that “you haven’t hypnotised me yet … not once”. I referred him to his original paperwork where he stated that his goal was to ‘quit smoking’. Therefore we have both succeeded in achieving that goal. He told me that he could have stopped smoking if he really had wanted to. “Of course” … I smiled and wished him all the best as clean fresh air breather.
